Suggested Pet Changes
While I have had some success with pet builds, I still believe this to be the most underpowered line in the game, so I think some changes need to happen here.
While I don't think individual beast skills are bad, I think the way beast skills work in general.. make them a poor line. So here's what I'd change:
1. Tiger's fury should not disable beast skills. One of the reasons to put points into beast mastery is to use tiger's fury. Beast attacks should be 'attack skills' and they shouldn't be disabled by using this skill in the same attribute line.
2. Beast attacks should be similiar to shouts in that they don't stop your actions. It doesn't make common sense that you'd have to stop, and it doesn't make game sense either. You already have to devote a large amount of your skill bar if you go the way of the pet, it shouldn't stop your actions constantly too.
3. The actions should queue (and separately from your own skills), but be activated (non interupt, able to be done while using another skill/attacking) like a shout.
4. You should be able to issure simple orders, like selecting a target for your pet, telling him to stop, or having them auto select your target (default).
5. They should engage much quicker. Too often, pets are sitting around doing very little, and this lowers their dps too much.
6. Show their damage. Same goes for minions. I don't mind not having a 'pet stat' screen, but you should at least be able to see how much damage they do with a visual # when they attack. It's hard to balance skills when you don't have feedback on what they're actually doing.
7. Skills like call of haste, that suggest they work for all party member pets, should actually do so. They should also have an icon showing that it's active.
That's about it. I believe the skills themselves would be well balanced after those changes occurred. They might even need a nerf.
